Etwas Nutzlos received its first Scottish festival selection this week with the news that it will be screened as part of the prestigous HB Film Festival.
The festival will take place on Thursday 5th - Sunday 8th October in the Wynd Center, Paisley.
Exhibiting the finest independent cinema to come out of Scotland, we look forward to seeing all the other great shorts that will be accompanying our film.
We are so thrilled to be apart of Oliver Marson’s hilariously brilliant new single “Richest Man in the World” which premieres today.
The video was shot in the stunnign Atomic Mid Cewntury Home in Nottingham, and parodies the life of a spoiled billionaire and his trophy wife played by the wonderful Evadne Fisher.

Etwas Nutzlos has been selected to be screened as part of the Experimental Brasil Festival 2023.
The film will be shown live to a selected audience on July 9th in one of the most beautiful abandoned sugar mills in the countryside of Rio De Janeiro, in the city of Campos Dos Goytacazes.
This will mark the official South American premiere for the film.
Our short film created in Berlin last year, Etwas Nutzlos, will receive its UK premiere at this years INEFF Festival and Symposium which will take place at Media City in Salford on the 11th of July 2023.
The festival showcases, in its own words:
“Films are chosen for their deviation from traditional narrative and stylistic norms and their emphasis on exploration and experimentation.
In addition to film screenings, the event features panels, workshops, and Q&A sessions with filmmakers and experts in the field, engendering a deep conversation between theory and practice, inspiring innovation and development of the film form. These sessions are designed to engage all attendees in critical discussions about the creative possibilities and boundaries of experimental fiction filmmaking.The festival also provides networking opportunities for attendees to connect with industry professionals, artists, and fellow filmmakers. This facilitates the development of new collaborations, partnerships, and projects within the experimental fiction filmmaking community.”

Last weekend the Humble team took part in the Edinburgh 48 Hour Film Project and collaborated with Fufilment Pictures and 1815 director Neil Boyle to produce a short film named “Learning Magic”.
Starring Kirsty Strain, Stephen Kerr and Kayla Caldwell, the film was nominated for and won the following awards:

The dazzling diversity of African dance -- in 14 moves by the supremely talented dancer Chinyanta Kabaso.
If African culture were a tree, then dance would be its flowers, says choreographer and TED Idea Search winner Chinyanta Kabaso. In a captivating display of both traditional and modern dances, she showcases the beauty of these movements and explains how they reveal the history of migration and shared cultural connections of different ethnic groups across the continent.

Caraml (previously Caramel) is a psychedelic pop duo by Lithuanian artist Dominykas Morkunas and South African musician Stephan Kreussel.
This music video for their infectious single “Chasing a Sound” incorporates footage shot in Scotland with the Humble team with footage collected in South Africa by Stephan in order to create a lush visual collage that compliments the dreamscape of the music.

We are delighted to announce that Etwas Nutzlos (or Somewhat Useless) is complete and beginning to be sent out to film festivals across the globe.
“With this short, written in Scotland and shot in Berlin in September 2022, the Scottish/Lithuanian duo wanted to return to their avant-garde routes and create a surrealist drama with mature themes of love, identity and pride. Shot completely in still images, the film has a stop motion inspired feel, despite being a live action film. This unique style is employed to emphasise the sensation of limbo that Stefan finds himself in, and how his emotional turmoil has bought his life to a standstill. Paired with a soundtrack composed by renowned Glasgow musicians Gianluca Bernacchi and Ciaran Devlin (of Fauves and Vegan Leather) the final product is an uncompromising surrealist short that is sure to spark debate with every audience that sees it.”

We have been looking forward to dropping this collaboration with talented singer/songwriter Oliver Marson ever since we created it in Autumn of last year.
The video is inspired by the nightmarish torture of the daily 9-5 routine, and was shot at The Glue Factory in Glasgow.

Renowned Gaelic artist and songwriter Gillebride MacMillan announced today his new album 'Sèimh: The State of Calm', accompanying it a video for the lead single Meadhan-oidche produced and directed by Humble Film Productions.
Shot in the twilight of summer 2022, this video was a collaboration with dance company MairiMeDance. Watch it at the Youtube link below:
This week 1815 kicked off the new year with yet another festival selection, Idyllwild being the first time the film will be seen by an American audience when it is screened in California from March 7th-12th 2023. It joins an impressive line up of shorts from all around the world.
The impressive jury at this years festival include Queens Roger Taylor, Short Cuts actress Anne Archer and Glengarry Glen Ross cinematographer Juan Ruiz Anchia among many others.
We will find out in the coming weeks if 1815 is nominated for any awards, and keep you updated as it starts its journey with American audiences.
